The Nanaimo Blues Society (the Society) is a BC registered non-profit society that was founded in October 2004 and is led by a committed volunteer board with a passion for Blues music. Our mandate is to add to the culture and vitality of Nanaimo, support and mentor youth interested in learning about and playing the blues, supporting live music and venues, promote awareness of the history of blues music. We celebrate diversity and create a safe and inviting space for everyone to participate in.
The Society presents the annual Nanaimo Blues Festival in beautiful Maffeo Sutton Park, located in Nanaimo's Inner Harbour and features local, provincial, national and internationally renowned Blues musicians. The Society supports the weekly Sunday Blues Jam at The Queen's featuring different blues bands each week and a popular blues gathering place for blues patrons and professional blues musicians. You can catch some of the finest emerging blues talent at the weekly blues jams!
